Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Neal Clark, age 75, of Cookeville, will be at 12 noon Wednesday, April 5 at Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christian Smith and Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in White County. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Clark passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville. He was born December 31, 1941 in White County to the late Hermon and Eliza Winnett Clark. He graduated from White County High School Class of 1959. Mr. Clark was a 10 year US Marine veteran. He served two tours in the Vietnam War as a parachute rigger and safety equipment supervisor in squadrons HMM 365 and HMM 161 He served as a door gunner on CH-34 and CH-46 Helicopters during supply and medivac missions. He was awarded the Naval Commendation with the Combat V, 9 Air Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal along with several other awards and citations. After his military service, he began a career in law enforcement with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in Charlotte, NC. He retired in 1994 as a Patrol Division Sergeant with 30 years of service. He was also a member of several fraternal organizations including: Newell Lodge #739 AF&AM Masonic Lodge in Newell, NC; Oasis Shriners and Scottish Rite in Charlotte, NC, and a charter member of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Lodge 9 of Fraternal Order of Police Following retirement, Mr. Clark and his wife, Ann moved to Tennessee. He was a member of Cookeville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Friendship Sunday School class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Andrew, Ed,Tillman, Billie and Seth Dee Clark; and three sisters, Myrtie Clark, Lenora Green, and Jewell Clark. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ann Hilderman Clark, who he married September 27, 1983 in Charlotte; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and George Dolin of Sparta, TN; three sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Parrish of Sparta, Nellie and Sam Mansur of Upland, CA, Rachel Clark of Lancaster, SC; sister-in-law, Marie Clark of Sparta; two grandchildren, Tyler (Hannah) Dolin and Lyndsea Hutchins in Sparta; and two great-grandchildren. Nephews and great nephews will serve as pallbearers.
