BAXTER-Memorial services for Jerry Ray Carr, 78 of Baxter, will be Saturday, February 12 at 4 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Elder Les Walper will officiate.The family will receive friends from 2 pm until service time at the funeral home. Military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in Double Springs Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Carr died suddenly Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1943 in Buffalo Valley to the late Othel and Levola Anderson Carr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Jean Mackie, Hilda Maxwell, Margaret Thomas, Ann Neeley, Tincy Strahin and Becky Maynard, brothers Jimmy, Bobby, Marty, Michael Carr and an infant brother. Jerry was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. Survivors include wife of 53 years (Married March 9, 1968) Elaine Breland Carr of Baxter, daughter Renee (Ron) Chamberlain of Cookeville, sisters Carolyn Bates of Buffalo Valley, Jan Greene and Shirley Douglas both of Carthage, grandchildren: Chelsea Renee Scott, Zachary (Ashley) Scott all of Cookeville.
