Jerry Alan Lane, Jr.

November 25, 1969 — July 8, 2024

Jerry Alan Lane Jr., affectionately known as Alan by his loved ones, passed away peacefully at his residence in Cookeville, TN, on July 8, 2024, at the age of 54. Born on November 25, 1969, in Cookeville, Alan's life was a testament to the love and joy he brought to those around him.

Alan was a devoted father, a loving son and brother. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Bethany Smith, and her husband, Austin, who brought immense happiness to his life. Bethany's mother, Nola Franklin, remained a supportive figure throughout Alan's journey. His mother and step-father, Robbie and Donnie Powell, his sister, Amy Melton, and his step-siblings, Jackie Wilkerson, Jennifer Naylor (husband, Dallas), and Jason Powell (wife, Jacque), will fondly remember Alan's kind heart and generous spirit. His grandchildren, Jace and Wesley Smith, were the light of his life, and he adored every moment spent with them. Alan also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Jake and Lexi Melton, who will miss their uncle's playful nature and unwavering support. His father-in-law, Bruce Geesling, will also hold dear the memories shared with Alan.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Alan Lane Sr., with whom he now rests in peace.

Alan's professional life was marked by his years of dedicated service at Adams USA in Cookeville, where he formed lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his passion for his personal interests.

An avid sports enthusiast, Alan found great joy in coaching his daughter's softball teams, sharing his love for the game and imparting valuable lessons both on and off the field. His mechanical skills shone brightly as he spent countless hours working on cars, a hobby that provided him not just with a sense of accomplishment but also a way to connect with fellow car enthusiasts.

NASCAR races were a source of excitement for Alan, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite drivers during the racing season. His love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him, as he cherished the times he could escape to fish in the serene waters around Cookeville.

Alan's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 12 pm on Thursday, July 11, at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery, where Alan will be laid to rest.
