Private Family Graveside Funeral Services for Jerl Walton Weeks, age 87, of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday morning, January 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, January 11, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home, on Willow Avenue in Cookeville. Mr. Weeks died Monday January 10, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born January 29, 1923 in Marked Tree Arkansas. Orphaned at a young age, he grew up in a Church of Christ Youth Home, where he was taught the scriptures at a young age; the Bible was his guide for his life. Jerl was known throughout Cookeville for his work in the community serving several area country congregations, most recently, The Jefferson Avenue. Church of Christ as Associate Minister, Elder and Bible Class teacher. He also taught Water Color Painting for the Cumberland Art Society and was a member of Toastmasters. His hobbies included gardening and bird watching. He was an avid reader, Bible scholar and writer of several religious publications. Jerl is survived by three children Dennis Weeks (Linda), Barry Weeks (Vanessa) both of Cookeville and Jennifer Crain (Fianc Mark Brown) of Hendersonville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Chelsea and Natalie Crain; Nathan, Julia, Alben, Jed, Evan and Leah Weeks. Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pattie Sue Weeks, a daughter Suzanne Weeks, toddler grandson Daniel Weeks, and a brother Art Weeks and a sister Signa Weeks. Bro. David Vaughn and Bro. Doug Fowler will be conducting Services.
