Graveside services and interment with military honors for Jere E. Farley, age 78 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m Friday January 1 at Algood City Cemetery. Bro. Robert Haynes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary, Larry and Alan Farley, Dan Verble, Justin Farley and Ray Richardson. Jere passed away Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County with his wife and sons by his side. He was born February 9, 1942 in Cookeville, TN to the late Claude Lee and Vallie Wright Farley. Jere was very dedicated to his family and always made sure they were well cared for. He attended Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He was a charter member and ordained deacon of Midway Baptist Church. Jere retired with 30 years of service with Kerns Bread Company. He took pride in his customers in Byrdstown and Livingston. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and on the Algood City Council from 1975-1977. Jere enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his second family, members of the local chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He enjoyed antique car shows, western movies, and country and gospel music. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nora Richardson Farley. He is also survived by two sons, Jere D. Farley and wife Linda of Algood, Tim Farley and wife Cathy of Doyle; three grandchildren, Ashley Farley and Justin Farley of Cookeville, and Drew Farley of Doyle; two great granddaughters (the joy of his life), Brianna and Alexis Crawley of Cookeville; sister, Edith Ann Verble and husband, Dan of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Claudine Martin, Dorothy Howard, and Genell Newman; and four brothers, A.V., J.B., Ray, and Ted Farley.
