Jeffrey Allan McCrary, known affectionately as Jeff, left this world on May 7, 2024, at the age of 50. Born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on September 16, 1973, Jeff's life was a testament to the joy and kindness he brought into the lives of those around him. His departure in Cookeville, Tennessee, is a moment of both sorrow and celebration for a life lived with genuine warmth and generosity.
Jeff was the cherished son of Mike and Wanda Baswell McCrary, a brother to Nicki Burleson and her husband Jeremy, Amanda Turner, and Crystal Troutt with her husband Jeromy. He was a beloved uncle to his eleven nieces and nephews: Mary, Craig, Ava, Gavin, Coltin, Dean, Athena, Ember, Jaxon, Logan, and Khaleesi. His presence will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by his surviving grandfather, Wade McCrary, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and his dedicated caregivers, Robert McGugin and Andy Shelley.
Marked by his compassionate spirit, Jeff was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Doris McCrary, and maternal grandparents, Dewitt and Reta Baswell. His familial bonds were a cornerstone of his life, and the memories created with them will be treasured by all who knew him.
Jeff was a proud 1995 graduate of Cookeville High School, where he formed friendships and displayed his characteristic friendliness that would follow him throughout his life. He was a member of the Holladay Church of Christ, where his faith and fellowship with the congregation were sources of strength and joy.
His interests were a reflection of his engaging personality. An avid basketball enthusiast, Jeff could often be found cheering on his favorite teams or playing card games with a competitive yet always friendly spirit. His love for country music provided a soundtrack to many gatherings, and his passion for "The Dukes of Hazzard" was well known among his friends and family. Jeff's affinity for the show spoke to his love for adventure and the simple joys of life.
Jeff's warmth extended to the youngest among us. He had a special gift for connecting with babies, and it was often said that babies loved him just as much as he adored them. The gentle nature of his interactions with children was a clear reflection of his loving heart.
