Jeanetta Howard

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanetta Howard, age 65 of Algood, will be held Tuesday December 8 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Algood Heritage Cemetery. Rev. S. Renee Franklin will officiate. Mrs. Howard's family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Howard died Thursday evening December 3, 2015 at her home. She was born May 11, 1950 in Putnam County to the late James Arthur and Carrie Mae Peek Hayes. She attended the former Swallows Elementary School in Algood, earned her high school diploma from Putnam County Adult Education in 2002, where she received the prestigious Tommy Burks Award. Mrs. Howard was a life-long member of Burton Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as a lay-speaker, Community Steward, and Chairwomen of the Usher Board. She also was President of Burton Chapel United Methodist Church Women. Survivors include her husband, William Howard; son, Roger Hayes of Cookeville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Hayes Farley of Algood and Charlene Hayes (Lonnie) Wells of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Brandy D. Hayes, Jessica L. Hayes, Brandon D. Paige, and Alana L. Farley; two great grandchildren, Amirah and Aniya Hayes; three step-children, Susie (Wayne) Weaver of Knoxville, Barry Howard of Chattanooga, and Rhonda (Kenny) Fielder of Gainesboro; three sisters, Emma Sue Roberts, Mattie E. Woods both of Cookeville, and Edith Tubbs of Algood; five brothers, James Dean (Dorothy) Hayes of Smithville, Donald C. (Wanda) Hayes and Jerry G. (Robbie) Hayes all of Algood, William Curtis (Christine) Hayes of Livingston and James (Poppie Joe) Gist of Cookeville, three aunts, Mary Alice McClellan, Margaret Hurt both of Cookeville, and Lena Saddler of Carthage, TN and seven step-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leonard Roberts, Victor Roberts, Calvin Hayes, Edward Tubbs, Michael Hayes, and Jerry M. Hayes. Flower Bearers will be nieces. Active Pallbearers will be Bill Roberts, Jamie Hayes, William Curtis Hayes JR, Jerry C. Hayes, Patrick Tubbs, and Donald C. Hayes, JR.
