Jay C. Goolsby

Funeral services for Mr. Jay C. Goolsby, age 92 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday June 28 , 2014 at 1:00 pm. family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. until time of service in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with burial following in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Goolsby passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born August 23, 1921 in Cookeville, TN to the late R.C. Goolsby and Willie Grider. Jay C. was the owner & operator of Goolsby Slaughter House. Jay C. is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lorelle West Goolsby; one son, Gary (Vickey) Goolsby of Cookeville; one daughter, Beverly Halfacre of Franklin, son-in-law Charles Dyer of Cookeville; six grandchildren, Chris (Faye) Dyer, Lori (Nate) Walker, Eric Dyer, Kandice Halfacre, Jason and Kyle Goolsby; Six great- grandchildren, Joyce, Alexander, & Nora Dyer, Barrett Walker, Alayna Walker and Brayden Goolsby. In addition to his parents, Jay C. was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Dyer, two sisters; Retta Sorenson and Dorothy Payne and a son-in-law, Buddy Halfacre. Family has requested Memorial Donations be made to Therapeutic Animal Partners, P.O. Box 1875, Spring Hill, TN. 37174 Pallbearers will be family and friends. Jim McCaleb will officiate the service.
