Jannet Pickett

December 19, 1945 — November 4, 2020

Jannet Alred Pickett, 74, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, comforted by her family. She will always be remembered as a fun-loving person who loved her family and friends, and for her signature red hair and fiery spirt. Although she resided in Murfreesboro, Cookeville was her birthplace and where she called home. Jann, or "Jannie" as she was known to her childhood friends, was born December 19, 1945 in Cookeville, TN to the late William "Hub" Alred and the late Myrtle Dishman Alred. She was a 1963 graduate of Central High School. Mrs. Pickett worked in the medical field in Nashville, TN., before her retirement. Jann enjoyed travelling, craft fairs, watching Hallmark Christmas Movies, and spending time with the people she loved. She looked forward to her Dipsy Doodle Thursdays and Thanksgiving and Christmas were always her favorite times of year because this meant special memories were being made with people she loved. Jann was preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years, Charles Thomas Pickett of Crossville; brother, Oral Alred; and sister, Jo "Nanny Jo" Morris. She is survived by her daughter, Debby Pickett Sadler (Joey); grandchildren, Cole, Kyleigh, Sophie, Joseph (Micah) and great-grandchildren, Avery, Eli, and Lane; brothers Carl Alred (Aileen), Keith Alred (Lucille), brother-in-law Richard Morris, and many cherished nieces and nephews. "Every life is noted and is cherished, and nothing loved is ever lost or perished." - Madelieine L'Engle. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, November 8 at 1 p.m. at Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow Dodson Chapel Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 11:00 am until service time. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed.
