Janice Vrabel Garman

Janice Vrabel Garman, age 80, a resident of Cookeville, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at her home. Janice was born April 10, 1932 in Jersey City New Jersey to the late Francis and Catherine Cockrane Vrabel. Janice was a loving mother, homemaker and active member of her church, St. Thomas Aquinas here in Cookeville. Among other activities, she was a founding member of the Compassionate Friends, Goal Diggers, D.O.C., and Book Talk clubs. Janice is survived by one daughter: Terry Garman of Alexandria VA, four sons: Rick (Mary) Garman of Manassas VA, Bill (Sandra) Garman of Cincinnati OH, Joe (Alisa Gravitz) Garman of Washington D.C., and Tony “Tag” (Jen) Garman of Dumfries VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kathryn (Paul) Cradduck of Cincinnati OH, Deborah (Andrew) Baker of Searcy AR, Sarah (Ernest) Bean of Honolulu HI, Jason Garman of Cincinnati OH, Kaitlin Garman of Birmingham AL, Tammy Amanda Garman of San Marcos TX, Abby Garman of Maryville TN, and Thomas Joseph “TJ” Garman of Dumfries VA, as well as one great grandchild on the way. Janice is survived by one brother, Frank Vrabel of Denville NJ, two sisters: Vivian (Bob) Deeds of Rockaway NJ, and MaryEllen Serfinge of Pittsburgh PA, and the father of her children, Frederick Garman. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a son, James Jay Garman, and a brother, James Joseph Vrabel. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville.
