Janet Mcelhaney Randolph

d. January 16, 2018

Janet Randolph, 85, of Cedar Park, Texas, formerly of Algood, broke free from earth on Friday, December 8, 2017 and began a journey to join her heavenly Father. She gave much due diligence preparing for this day with dedication of faith in God. She entered this world at Cleburne, Texas on September 4, 1932 born to proud parents Patrick H. McElhaney and Margie Ann Foust. The youngest of 6 children, her parents surrounded their lives with love. Her siblings were one brother, the late Virgil McElhaney of Fort Worth, Texas, and four sisters, the late Morene Stansbury of Cleburne, Texas, the late Mildred Stepp of Cleburne, Texas, and survived by two of her sisters, Bobbye Belcher and Wanelle Pierce. Cleburne High School was responsible for Janet's formal education where she graduated in 1949. Soon after High School graduation, she married her High School sweetheart Billy T. Randolph who preceded her in death. Janet's life changed forever with the birth of an only son Tim Randolph (Karen) of Bella Vista, Arkansas who survives her, a granddaughter and two grandsons. Additionally, she is survived by eight of her eleven nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews, 20 great, great nieces and nephews and 2 great, great, great nephews who survived her. As her husband's career advanced that lead to moves including Arkansas City, Topeka, Kansas, and a retirement move to Bella Vista, Arkansas. After his death she moved to Cookeville, Tennessee, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Centennial, Colorado, and her final stop Cedar Park, Texas to be near her sister Bobbye. Janet was a very humble Christian lady, never seeking praise, reward, or recognition for any of her many accomplishments and contributions. Her care and concern for family members was unwavering, her love for mankind remarkable, leaving a legacy to be cherished and honored by many. Her service came in many forms ranging from simply lending time or assistance in a time of need, preparation of food from fresh baked cookies to full course dinners, studying the Bible with total strangers to encourage them to a better path, or generous monetary gifts. Wherever she resided she was a very active, devoted and faithful member of the local church of Christ. Over her lifetime there were some very special moments brought about by traveling worldwide participating in mission work and campaigns for Christ. Probably her greatest achievement came about after moving to Cookeville, where she worshipped with the Northeast Church of Christ and enrolled in classes at Tennessee Bible College. Not only did she enroll in classes, but also successfully completed course requirements to earn the undergraduate Bachelor of Religious Education Degree. Again, being humble, without need of recognition, she neither walked through the graduation line, nor sought any kind of recognition for her work. While residing in Centennial, Colorado, Janet was approved for membership and accepted into the Daughters of The American Revolution. A memorial service will be held in Carr Chapel of Tennessee Bible College on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 4pm, visitation will be held from 2pm to 4pm. In lieu of flowers you might kindly consider a donation to the National MS Society (214 Overlook Cir, Brentwood, TN 37027) or Tennessee Bible College (PO Box 865, Cookeville, TN 38503).
