James Whitefield

BAXTER-Funeral services for James Whitefield, 83 of Baxter will be Monday, November 26 at 1 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Whitefield died Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1935 in DeKalb County, TN to the late Togo and Ida James Whitefield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Ricky Jones, daughter-in-law Debby Whitefield, sisters Lucille Whitefield and Reba Whitefield, brother Travis Whitefield, father and mother-in-law Leo and Veila Herren Chaffin. He was a retired machinist with Norwalk Furniture of Cookeville. He was a member of Herren's Chapel Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. He enjoyed wood working, gardening and had a great sense of humor. Survivors include wife of 62 years (Married May 10, 1956) Josephine Chaffin Whitefield of Baxter, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Hobert Humphrey of Powell, Tn, son Earl Whitefield of Andersonville, TN, brother Willis Whitefield of Smithville, grandchildren: Amanda (Jonathan) Mitchell of Hill AFB, Utah, Lacie (Tim) Patty of Caryville, TN, Jeff Jones of Clinton, TN, great grandchildren: Isla and Kinsey Mitchell, Jordan Jones, Holly and Paige Patty, several nieces, nephews and extended family. Special friends Jim and Susan Hiser. Special thanks to the staff at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and NHC of Cookeville for their special care. Bro. Phil Loftis will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 PM and after 11 AM Monday at the funeral home.
