James "Sad" Wilson

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - James "Sad" Edward Wilson, age 76, of Cookeville, TN passed away on January 10, 2025 at Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN

He was born at home in Overton County, TN on March 16, 1948, son of his late parents John Edd Wilson and Mary Alice Presley Wilson. He was preceded in death by his sisters Edith Allen and Rosey Murray.

He is survived by his siblings TV Donald Wilson and wife Dawn, Willie Wilson, Freddie Wilson of Overton County, TN and 11 nieces and nephews.

He loved the outdoors (hunting, fishing, taking long walks, mowing yards, gardening) and gathering around the bonfire with friends and listening to music.

He also loved and adored his longtime companion of 25 years, Mary Sullivan. He also loved Mary's children Ann Darlene Anderson of Cookeville, TN and John Allen of Lebanon, TN as well as Mary's grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as if they all were his own family. He loved his caretaker, Louise Wade of 16 years of which he called her his granddaughter.

Sad had an impact on everyone he met. He was friendly, a hard worker and always wanted to lend a hand to help, it did not matter what it was.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 12:00pm until time of service at Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home Cookeville Chapel. Funeral services will be held the same day at 1:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel with Pastor Tim Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Harris Chapel Cemetery.
