Funeral service for James E Moss, age 90 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Mike Dyer officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Algood City Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Moss passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at NHC of Cookeville. He was born Monday, September 22, 1930 in Louisville, KY to the late John and Mayme Brewer Moss. Mr. Moss was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. A member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ, Mr. Moss was loved by his church family. Known for his passion for studying the Bible, he spent hours making notes from sermons and shared the fruit of his study with others. Among his prized possessions is a poster-sized crossword puzzle of Bible names he made as a result of his love for studying scripture. Mr. Moss is described as a "sweet soul" who found contentment in simplicity. He cherished cards sent from friends and kept notes of gratitude in response. He will be remembered for his kind nature and his keen ability to prioritize the most important things in life. In addition to his church family, He is survived by special friends, John and Amanda Hoffmeister of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Raines Moss.
