James Gibbons

BAXTER-Memorial services will be held at a later date for James Thomas Gibbons, 81 of Baxter. Mr. Gibbons passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born December 10, 1934 in Overton County to the late Mouncie Elmo and Ilah Mae Hooten Gibbons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jewell Dean Neal. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Baxter First Baptist Church. He was the retired Transportation Manager at Foutch's of Cookeville with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Baxter Civitan Club and past president of the Baxter Little League. He also had served as an Auxillary Police Officer with the Putnam County Civil Defense. He loved fishing and restoring old vehicles. Survivors include wife of 61 years (Married June 25, 1955 in Baxter) Ruth Maxwell Gibbons, 2 sons and a daughter-in-law Jeffrey Gibbons, David and Teresa Gibbons all of Baxter, brother and sister-in-law Earl and Herma Gibbons of Bellbrook, Ohio, grandchildren: Travis Gibbons and fiancee Lindsey Roberts, Cierra Gibbons, Mark Thomas Gibbons and fiancée Chelsea Thomas, great grandson Lucas Gibbons.
