Funeral Services for James Eli Allison, age 70 of Ft. Myers FL will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Allison Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 4, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mr. Allison passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Health Park Hospital in Ft. Myers. He was born February 15, 1942 in Putnam County TN to the late Eli Heard Allison and Emma Murphy Allison. James was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force was a retired Real Estate and Mortgage Broker in Ft. Myers. During his life he had also owned an Appliance Store, and worked as a machinist with Douglas Air Craft. While working with Douglas, he had worked with a space shuttle and his work is displayed in the Smithsonian. Mr. Allison was a charter member of the San Carlos Optimist Club and a charter board member of the Triad Youth Home. James loved fishing, had a green thumb as a gardener and enjoyed both in his spare time. He and his wife Marlene attended the Estero Baptist Church in Ft. Myers. James is survived by his wife, Marlene Hedgecough Allison, one daughter; Valorie Allison and one granddaughter, Nikki Leigh Allison both of Espaola NM, and one brother; Jerry Allison (wife Earnestine) of Baxter, uncles Eugene Murphy and Virgil Murphy both of Cookeville. Aunts; Lelabell (Clarance) Winfree of Warren MI, Birchie Allison of Baxter and Willene Allison of Cookeville. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Maybell Hicks of Monterey and a brother-in-law, Charles Hedgecough Jr. (Mary) of Pensacola, nephews; Johnny and Shane Allison of Baxter, and David Ervin of Cookeville, cousins; James Guy and Maxine Guy of Metamora MI, and Gene Guy of Troy MI. In addition James had several close friends including Howard and Colleen Harris of Baxter, Judy Jakes of Ft. Myers, Gerald and Ruby Myatt of Cookeville, Raymond Colon’ of Ft. Myers and his nurse; Linda Medeiros of Ft. Myers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Allison was preceded in death by a sister; Pearlene Allison Ervin and a brother; John Wayne Allison. Pallbearers will be the Honor Guard. Bro. Johnny Fox, Bro. Tim Singleton and Bro. Roger Cooper will conduct the services.
