James Christian

Funeral services for James Robert Christian, 87 of Buffalo Valley, will be Saturday, March 8 at 2 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Smellage Cemetery in the Boma Community. Mr. Christian died Wednesday evening, March 5, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 4, 1926 in the Lancaster Community of Smith County to the late Henry Nicholas "NICK" and Ruby Marie Malone Christian. He was a U.S Army Veteran of WW II and a member of Silver Point Baptist Church. He was a livestock dealer and loved his many friends and family at the Smith County Stockyard. He never met a stranger. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Mildred Boyd Christian on March 10, 2006; two grandsons Nick and Matt Christian, three sisters Maggie Wheeler, Evangeline Hood and Elizabeth Davis, and two brothers Eugene Christian and Erbie D. Christian. Survivors include seven daughters and sons-in-law Shirley Puckett of Smithville, Jannie Maxwell , Donna & Milton Ashburn , Patsy and Herbert Allison all of Baxter, Deborah and David Clark all of Bloomington Springs, Dorothy and John Fonville of Pikeville, Sarah Stamps of Cookeville, two sons & daughters-in-law Robert and Kim Christian, Allen and Tammy Christian all of Baxter, three sisters Pauline Elrod and Kathleen Moss both of Buffalo Valley, and Margaret Fields of Lebanon, two brothers Roy Christian of Buffalo Valley, Doyle Christian of Woodbury, sisters and brothers-in-law Ruby Craighead & Martha Sanders, Bonnell, Leon, Taylor, Billy & Jacky Boyd, 19-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Bro. Tony Crow will officiate. Active Pallbearers will be Johnnie and David Allison, Ethan Christian, Andrew Stamps, Christian Fonville and Chris Williams. Family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. and Saturday after 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
