BAXTER - Funeral services for Jackie Ray Gardner, age 62 of Baxter, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday October 3 at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Kevin Daughrity will officiate. Interment with military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 12 noon until service time. Due to COVID-19, social distancing measures will be observed. Jackie passed away Wednesday evening September 30, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1957 in Cookeville to Georgia Lewis Sherfey of Algood and the late Thurman Ray "Wobble" Gardner. Jackie was an US Army veteran and previously served in the Veterans Honor Guard. He was a truck driver prior to retirement. He was a loving husband and cared deeply about his family. In addition to his mother, Jackie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dean Thrasher Gardner whom he married March 23, 1984; sons, Jack Janes, Jacob Bowe, and Roger Boles; sisters, Sheila Hammock, Pennie (Johnnie) Dyer, and Judy Tallent; grandchildren, Jack Janes Jr., Steven and Tommy Janes, and Kysin Bowe. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Howard Sherfey; brother, Randy Gardner; and sister, Betty Jean Gardner.
