Jack Massa

Funeral services for Jack Ronald Massa Sr. age 71, of Sparta, will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 10 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Frank officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Howard Cemetery in White County. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Friday from 1 p.m. until service time. Jack passed away Tuesday morning, March 7, 2017 at his home. He was born August 10, 1945 in White County, TN to the late Lawrence Grace and Elise Goodwin Massa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela (Angie) Faye Massa, who died March 3, 2017. A joint service will be held for Angie and Jack will be held Friday at 3 p.m. Jack graduated from Putnam Co Senior High in 1963. He was a US Navy Veteran. He was retired from UPS with over 25 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jack was a volleyball enthusiast and participated in the Senior Olympics. Jack was a great husband, father and pa. He was always willing to help anyone in need. You always knew where you stood with Jack! He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melissa Masters Massa, whom he married December 29, 1990 in Cookeville; son, Jay Massa (fiancé, Dondi Billings); daughter, Emma Grace Massa all of Sparta; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Sharon Massa of Cookeville; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Rick Cooper of Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren, Andrew Harness (fiancé, Tapanga Elrod), Megan Harness, and Tucker Jack Massa; nieces and nephews, Melinda and John Poteet, Doug Massa, and Amanda Cooper, Kaitlea and Corey Masters, and brother-in-law, Brett Masters. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderbilt University Transplant Center. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
