COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Jackie Lee Bates 69, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, from the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery. A Masonic service will be Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, and from 11 a.m. until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Bates died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1940, to the late Wiley Bates and Tessie Martin. Mr. Bates was the owner of Mini Burger here in Cookeville for 39 years. He was a member of the Cookeville Baptist Temple Church and the local Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266. His family includes His wife, Rhonda Bates: two sons, Tim Bates and Shane Bates: One daughter, Stephanie Davis and her husband David: A son-in-law, Mark Randolph: his mother and father-in-law, Jim and Christine Hickey: Brothers-in law and wives, Lonnie and Faye Hickey, Troy and Tina Hickey, Steve and Melody Hickey, and Mike Hickey and Jeff Hickey: Sisters-in-law and their husbands, Rose and Steve Ledbetter, Elaine and Mike Allison, Missy and mike Maynard, and Eva Kinnaird. Grandchildren include Tyler Randolph and Annalee Bates. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Randolph: A sister, Verla Lamberson: Three brothers, Ernest, Staley and Bernice Bates and a brother-in-law, Arnold Kinnaird. Pallbearers will be Roy Helms, Mark Randolph, Ronnie Jestes Jr., Steve Ledbetter, Greg Deweese, Lucas Ledbetter, Brian Walton, and Shane Ward. Rev. Clarence Jared and Rev. Bryant Presley will officiate at the services.
