Interment with military honors will follow at Algood City Cemetery. Bro. Roy Wilmoth will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Barker died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born January 29, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Myers and Edith Mae Seeley Barker, Sr. Mr. Barker was a member of Jere Whitson Road Church of Christ. He was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was an U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II; served in the European Theater; and received the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Wilmoth Barker (who died February 16, 2012) and a daughter, Shirley Dobbs. Mr. Barker is survived by a daughter, Jan Bryant of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Chris and wife Kristie Bryant of Goodlettsville, TN, Jennifer and husband Anant Patel of Fort Worth, TX, Darren Dobbs of Groton, CT, and Matthew Dobbs of Marietta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Craig and Corey Oakley, and Cameron, Lexi, and Devon Patel, and one great-great grandchild, Bryson Oakley.
