Iris Jernigan

November 19, 1946 — October 3, 2022

BAXTER-Iris Faye Landers Jernigan, 75 of Silver Point, TN passed from her earthly journey, to her heavenly home on October 3, 2022. She was born November 19, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan.

She spent her lifetime as an adoring wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was known to most as "Nonnie". She was proudly given that title by her grandchildren and it was a title she loved!

She is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Billy Ray Jernigan of Silver Point, TN., they married August 1, 1964, five daughters Jodi (Jimmy) Hesson of Sparta, Billie Jo (Robert) Hieatt-Smith of Baxter, Teri Dial, Marti LaBrie-Ferguson, Jeannie (Mike) Ross and two great-grandsons that she raised, Anthony, Jr. and Legend all of Silver Point, TN, 15 beloved grandchildren and their spouses. She considered her grandchildren spouse's her great gift, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, four siblings Mickie (George Babcock, Donna (Jeff) Trumble, Arthur (Brenda) Landers, Jeff (Renee) Landers all of Michigan, siblings-in-love Robert (Joan) Jernigan, Rodger (Ella) Jernigan all of Silver Point, TN, and a congregation of nieces and nephews worldwide. She did not believe in "in-laws"-only "in loves".

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lawrence Landers and Aileen (Swann) Landers Dole, her parents-in-love WC and Betty (Prichard) Jernigan, grandson Anthony Billings, two sons-in-love, Ross Hieatt, Sr., Louis LaBrie and two great-granddaughters Jacey and Athena Winebrenner.

She lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and worked in the Putnam County school system. Her love for her family and friends was apparent to all who knew her--and all who knew her, loved her. She enjoyed cooking/baking and tried to feed everyone she met. She lived by the motto, "leave people better than you found them"--that's just what she did!

A Mom (Nonnie) is the one person that will always see the beauty within you. She is the one person that will believe you deserve only the best and bend backwards to ensure that you get it. Because the days of Motherhood (Nonniehood) are long and the years much too short.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
