Graveside services and interment for the family of Mrs. Violet Irene Kuist, age 84 of Crawford, will be held Sunday, May 3rd at Honey Springs Cemetery. Pastor Dan Graham will officiate. Mrs. Kuist passed away, Monday April 27, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born January 17, 1936 in Ooltewah, TN to the late Wilbur and Marguerite Smith Cross. She was a graduate of Southern Adventist University in 1958 (formerly known as Southern Missionary College) earning a bachelors degree in music. Throughout her life, she used her musical gifts to teach, ministering to students and others, while also playing for weddings, graduations, church services and other special occasions. Irene was a gifted, supportive homemaker and loyal caregiver to her parents and extended family. Whenever she had the opportunity, she enjoyed spending time in nature and loved its creatures. She has partnered with her husband in ministry while living throughout the United States, and also while living in Singapore and Canada. She has been an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cookeville since moving to the area in 2014. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bruce Kuist; son, Wil (Kimberly) Kuist of Hixson, TN; daughters, Katherine Kuist of Crawford and Gerd Peters of Hendersonville; brothers, Hoyett Cross of Madison, TN and Norman Cross of New Mexico; and by grandchildren, Alyssa Kuist, Cameron Kuist and Danielle Kuist.
