Irene Buck

Funeral services for Irene Haney Buck, 88, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday September 16 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bobby Lane will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Irene passed away Friday evening September 13, 2019 at Life Care Center of Sparta. She was born on April 13, 1931 in Algood, TN to the late Clarence Thomas and Florida Stockton Haney. Irene was a graduate of Algood High School. She married James Buck in May, 1950. They moved to and resided in Holly Springs, MS until 1967 where they were employed at Napa Auto Parts. After returning to Cookeville, Irene worked at First National Bank and First Tennessee Bank. She retired from banking in 1993 after 26 years of service. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Col (Ret.) Robert Harold Buck (Louise), niece Angeli Buck Swallows (Paul), nephew Robert Brown Buck, niece Margaret Mayberry (Ronnie), nephew Johnny Lane (Lynn), nephew Bobby Lane (Sarah), nephew, Ken Lane (Joan), and nephew, Rick Lane (Lori); great nephews and nieces Timothy Durm (Eleanor), Jake Durm (Krista), Emily Jones (Jeremy), Wes Swallows, Avery Westrich (Quinton), Lindsi Buck, Kelsi Buck, Lane Mayberry (Megan), Patrick Mayberry (Jenny), James Lane (Whitney), Rebecca Baggett, Michael Lane (Kim), Holly Freeman (Mike), David Lane (Kelsey), Austin Lane; and 20 great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Peek Buck Jr., who passed away July 25, 2019; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and John Lane, Fannie and W.D. Lane of Warren, MI; and sister-in-law, Jewell Brown Buck. Pallbearers will be Michael Lane, Lane Mayberry, David Lane, Austin Lane, Mike Freeman, and Robert Brown Buck.
