COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Ila Mae Johnson, 87, of Cookeville, will be held Monday, July 7, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery. Family will receive friends today, Sunday, July 6, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at NHC of Cookeville. She was born March 22, 1921, in Jackson County, to the late Logan Dyer and Maggie Nola Jackson. Mrs. Johnson worked for the Putnam County school system for several years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Eddie Walker of Cookeville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie and Pam Johnson of Baxter and Jimmy Hunter of Seffner, Fla.; a brother, Albert Dyer of Baxter; and eight grandchildren, Kelly Lafever, Donna Johnson, Bubba Walker, Tracy Boykin, Paula Howard, Derick and Ron Hunter and Jamie Clark. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Hunter; her second husband, Gene Johnson; and 11 brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Bro. Paul Fox will officiate the services.
