Funeral Services with Military Honors for Mr. Hubert Olen Allison, age 92, of Baxter, will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, October 1, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service in the Chapel of Dyer. Burial will follow in the Nash Cemetery. Mr. Allison passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Monday evening, September 29, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Hubert was born November 12, 1921 in Putnam County, TN to the late Charlie Cassidy Allison and Bertha Lee Green Allison as one of fifteen children. He proudly served our country in World War II in the South Pacific serving in the 181st/947th Division of Field Artillery. Hubert retired from McCord's Corporation as a shipping clerk but never retired from his love of farming. He and his wife Elma were active members of First Baptist Church in Cookeville and Hubert was also active in the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled Veterans until his health failed him. Hubert is survived by four children; Patsy Anderson of Memphis, TN, Peggy Bush of Crossville, TN, Kathy Massa of Cookeville and Tim (wife Tommye Ann) Allison of Dayton, TN. In addition, Mr. Allison is survived by six grandchildren; Jeff, Karen, Matt, Daryl, Cindy and Ginger, as well as two sisters; Altie Blanche Lollar of Cookeville and Flossie (husband J.R.) Lewis of Michigan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Nash Allison, five sisters; Gladdis Franklin, Selma Herd, Lillian Stewart, and Jean Parker, and six brothers; Joe, Fred, Huston, Lawrence, Clayburn, and Kermit Allison along with two infant siblings. Pallbearers will be Donald Allison, Adam Nash, Perry Nash, Ross Nash, Gary Dawes, Allen Nash and J.R. Nash. Bro. Steve Sharp and Bro. Bill Stone will be conducting the services. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Silver Angels for their kind and gracious care.
