H.S. "Spud" Bouton

Funeral services for Mr. Harvey Spurgeon (Spud) Bouton, age 96, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday October 20 at Dyer Funeral Home. Jerome Frandle, Loren Spellman, and Bobby Sylvia will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Double Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Mr. Bouton passed away Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 15, 1922 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Floyd James Bouton and Dorothy Mae Jenkins Bouton. Mr. Bouton was a WWII veteran having served in the US Army. Spud was a general contractor for over fifty years and retired for the third time at age eighty five. He is survived by three sons, Chester (Gerry) Bouton, Chip (Janet) Bouton, and Andy (Pam) Bouton, all of Cookeville; three daughters, Rebecca (Terry) Phillips of Tuscaloosa, AL, Florence Bouton Culver of Cookeville, and Lydia (Gary) Myers of Monument, CO; sister, Martha Gillum of Nashville; 13 grandchildren, Matt (Shannon) Phillips, Brett (Stephanie) Phillips, Lani (Robert) Pedersen, Kenneth Bouton, Gary (Hali) Bouton, Dennis (Dawn) Bouton, Michelle (Chris) Lennon, Willie (Alex Southon) Culver, Levi (Holly) Bouton, Andrea (Eric) Williams, Jacob (Rachel) Bouton, Spencer (Jensen) Bouton, Ben (Matilda Lane) Bouton; 23 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hetzel Bouton; three brothers, Charles, Lamon, and Gerald Bouton; and three sisters, Irene Bouton, Mary Frederick, and Ruth Frederick .
