Howard Taylor Hitchcock

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Howard Taylor Hitchcock, 79, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery. Family will receive friends today, Friday, April 25, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hitchcock died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 26, 1928, in White County to the late Samuel and Susan Nash Hitchcock. Mr. Hitchcock served as treasurer of his church, Caney Fork Baptist, for 50 years, as well as serving as a deacon. He also served on the Board of Directors of First Tennessee Bank, was a member of the Retired Federal Employee Association and was treasurer of Browns Mill Cemetery. Mr. Hitchcock was retired from the Putnam County ASCS Farm Service Agency after 40 years of service. His family includes his wife, Frances Hitchcock of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Reba Hitchcock of Nashville; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tracy Daugherty; a brother and and sister-in-law, Cleve and Hazel Hitchcock of Sparta; a sister, Mae Jager of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Jacky Kimes Jr. and wife Alice of Lewisburg, Jason Hitchcock and wife Sarae of Nashville and Hannah Daugherty of Cookeville; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Trey Kimes, both of Lewisburg; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hitchcock was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Taylor, and 13 brothers and sisters. Bros. Steve Thornton and Tracy Daugherty will officiate the services.
