Hollis West

William Hollis West, known affectionately as Hollis, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, at Livingston Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 13, 1944, in Putnam County, TN, Hollis was a cherished member of the Algood community, a devoted family man, and a friend to many.

Hollis's life was one of dedication and service, as evidenced by his long tenure with McCord-Winn in Cookeville, where he retired after 33 years of commitment. His work ethic and loyalty were only matched by his devotion to his country, having been a proud former member of the Tennessee Army National Guard.

A devout Christian, Hollis was a member of the Circle Drive Freewill Baptist Church in Algood. His love for his church community was evident in his participation and the relationships he built within it.

Hollis's greatest joy came from being a family man. He is survived by his sons, Scott (Dawn) West and Mark (Sandy) West; sister, Jewell George; brother, Ricky West; and his cherished grandchildren, Lacie West (Maurice Freeman), Abby (Jacob) Weilenman, Tyler (Cadey) West, Taylor West, Paul (Karen) Seibers, and Kaitlin Baker. He also leaves behind a special niece, Krystal Robichaud (Lee Swallows), ten great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Myrtle Tayes West; his beloved wife, Bobbie Bilbrey West; and his sister, Joyce Robichaud.

A funeral service honoring Hollis will be at 1 p.m. Thursday January 11 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Danny Allen and Pastor Tyler West will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Algood City Cemetery. Hollis' family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 -7 p.m. and again Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time.
