Funeral services for Mr. Hoke Stanford White, 88 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday November 23 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Paul Roberts, Buddy Johnson, Joshua Roberts, and Ben Fox will officiate. Mr. White's family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. White died Wednesday evening November 20, 2013 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born September 17, 1925 in Morganton, North Carolina to the late Hubert Smith and Faye Ware White. He and his family owned and operated White's Photo Studio and he was a retired Clerk the U. S. Postal Service. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II and an active member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. He loved Tennessee Tech University sporting events. His relationship with Tennessee Tech football began as a teenager and he was considered to be Tech's most loyal all-time FOOTBALL FAN. For over seventy five years he attended practices and games and traveled with the Tennessee Tech News Media to away games. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Presley. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Hatfield White (whom he married April 2, 1953 in Cookeville); two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and David Fox of Cookeville, Janie and Larry Owens of Memphis; son, Jerry White of Cookeville; 4-grandchildren, Benjamin (Mallory) Fox, Whitney (Michael) Bowman, Joshua (Cristen) Roberts, and Jodie Beth and husband, Dr Brent Haberman; 4-great grandchildren, Graydon Roberts, Ensley Roberts, Audrey Jane Bowman, Blythe Roberts; sister Tomijo White of Tullahoma, TN; brother-in-law, and long time friend, Gaylon (Frances) Presley; and a host of nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sterling McCanless, James Drake, Walter Drake, Morris Lafever, Copeland Jared, Billy Holleman, Bob Schabert, Robert Reeves, and Doug McCulley. Active Pallbearers will be Frank Brown, Hillary Brown, Bill Gillen, Mike Hennigan, Phillip McCanless, Slade Stroud, and Donnie Westbrooks.
