Herby Lowell Gentry

Funeral services for Herby Lowell Gentry of Brentwood TN will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Gentry died on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Vanberbilt Medical Center. He was born November 13, 1936 in Baxter TN to the late Fayte Gentry and Ova Stewart Gentry. Herb was a retired audio-visual communications engineer at the School of Nursing at Vanderbilt University. He was a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church and American Legion Post 156. Mr. Gentry loved old cars and in his younger days spent many hours tinkering with them. He also enjoyed photography. His family includes his wife, Ruth Gentry; two sons, Michael Dewayne Gentry of Springfield TN and Gregory Lowell Gentry of Washington D.C. His is also survived by two special nieces: Debbie Greene of Cookeville and Nancy Stark of Glendale AZ, four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Mae Huntley and two brothers, Clarence Gentry and Ezra Gentry. Rev. Lynn Markham will be officiating the services.
