Henry Stamps

Mr. Henry Joe Stamps, Sr., age 93, of Waverly, TN, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Bowling Green, KY. Mr. Stamps was born November 4, 1921, in Baxter, TN, to Thomas Franklin and Vina Lou Bohannon Stamps. He was a United States Army Air Force World War II veteran and an Educator for 34 years. Survivors include 3 children: Rebecca Burns (Jerry), Bowling Green, KY, Elaine Vandiver (Bill), Kingston, TN, and Joe Stamps (Diep), Matthews, NC, 1 sister: Margaret Rose Greer, Nashville, TN, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; Rose Marie Maxwell Stamps, parents, and 9 siblings. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 4-7 p.m., at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Waverly Church of Christ. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Maxwell Cemetery in Baxter, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Waverly Church of Christ, American Cancer Society, or Honor Flight (the organization that flies World War II veterans to Washington, D.C.)
