Henry G. Stone Jr.

Private funeral services for Henry Gray Stone Jr. age 73 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be with military honors in the Tennessee State Military Cemetery on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Mr. Stone died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 27, 1936 in Ashland VA to the late Henry G. Stone Sr. and Douglas Ella Cardwell Stone. Mr. Stone served 30 years in the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant before retiring. He then worked for 10 years for the Northrup Corporation in California. Henry was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion. His family includes his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Berube Stone; two sons, Henry G. Stone III of Cookeville and Anthony J. Stone and wife Chanda of Huntland TN; five daughters, Deborah A. Johnston of Cookeville, Cynthia A. Hall and husband Jason of Kent WA, Brenda A. Kirouac and husband Chris of Cookeville, Alesia A. Stone of Cookeville and Jennifer A. Estep and husband Todd of Atlanta GA. Mr. Stone is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Ann Stone and a sister, Gertrude Dyson. The family has requested Memorial donations be made to Helping Hands of Cookeville. Donation information may be obtained at the funeral home.
