BAXTER-A Celebration of Life Service for Henry Freeman Lowe, 84 of Baxter, will be Saturday, March 12 at 12 Noon at Boma First Church of God. Rev. Tim Sharp will officiate. Mr. Lowe passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville. He was born January 9, 1932 in Chestnut Mound, Tennessee to the late James Arvil and Merry Susie Bryant Lowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Thomas Martin, sister Mildred Lowe Steele and brothers Garland Lowe, Donald Lowe and Charles Lowe. He joined the United States Air Force at age seventeen and served with the military police for twenty years. After his retirement he served in law enforcement at Tennessee Technological University, as chief of police in Baxter, Tennessee and as a deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. He loved baking (his coconut cakes were a legend), playing rook, volunteering at church, gardening and spending time with the babies in the family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his joy. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle spirit and unending devotion to his family. Survivors, he was dearly loved by his wife of 62 years (Married May 15, 1953 in Boma, TN) Anna Sue Robertson Lowe of Baxter, five children and their spouses: Nelda and David Stepp of Cookeville, Rhonda and James West, Lisa and Anthony Martin all of Baxter, Dennis and Marcia Lowe of Baxter, David and Andrea Lowe of Watertown, nine grandchildren: Shane Pack, Shannon Pack, James West, Toni West Paradis, Cheryl Lowe, Catherine Lowe Burgess, Beverly Lowe Nelson, Zachary Lowe and Mackenzie Lowe, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Keeble Lowe Helm of Baxter, Reva Sue Lowe Williams and husband Jerry of Cookeville, and a host of family and friends.
