Helen Stringer Cookeville Funeral services for Helen Stringer, age 85, of Cookeville, will be Monday March 16 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Glen Burks and Tim Frank will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services. Mrs. Stringer passed away Thursday March 12, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1935 in Cookeville to the late Haskell and Frances Christine Davenport Johnson. Mrs. Stringer was a charter member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. She formerly worked at the Cookeville Shirt Factory and retired from Russell Stover. She enjoyed singing and recorded with the Dan Farris group. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Gentry of Cookeville; sister, Shirley (Glen) Burks of Nashville; sister-in-law, Jo Johnson of Cookeville; grandchildren, Tisha Sanker of Cookeville, McKenzie (Spensir) Mapes of Cookeville, and Madison Gentry of Nashville; and great grandchildren, Otto Mapes, Tyler and Blake Sanker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Stringer; daughter, Beverly Henley; and brothers, Robert, Harlen, Kenneth, and Wayne Johnson.
