Helen Shaeffer

Funeral services for Helen Lucille Ragland Shaeffer, 82 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, October 8th at 12 noon at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Leighton Sissom will officiate. Her family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. Mrs. Shaeffer died Monday morning, October 5, 2015 at Upper Cumberland Hospice and Pallative Care in Cookeville. She was born March 4, 1933 in Memphis, TN to the late Dave Bedford Terry and Emma Louise Willis. Mrs. Shaeffer was a long time and faithful member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Cookeville First Baptist Church and as an associate at Duriron (now Flowserve). Helen and her late husband, James W. Ragland, traveled extensively in the U. S. as members of the Southeast Packard Car Club. In addition to her late husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Billy Terry. Survivors include her husband James E. "Jim" Shaeffer (whom she married October 21, 2013 in Cookeville); daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Chuck Armstrong of Sparta; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Kyong Carpenter of Seoul Korea; four grandchildren: John Limbacher III, of Cookeville; Katie (Brian) Parks of Chattanooga, Martin Carpenter of Ft. Lewis Washington; Lanhee (Jeff) Harrington of Ft. Belvoir, VA; great grandchildren: Sydney & Rhys Parks; Noah, Lilly, Joseph, Avery, & Winnie Harrington; Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
