Funeral services for Mr. Harold Jackson, 79 of Cookeville, will be held Friday October 12 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Harold's family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time Hooper-Huddleston & Horner funeral home. He died suddenly Friday October 5, 2018 at his home. He was born May 7, 1939 in Cookeville to the late Dallas Terry and Eva Mae Sliger Jackson. Harold or H.J. as he was known to many, was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. He was a self made man who made a successful living in the insurance business. After which, he and his wife, Janice and son, Jeff designed and developed White Plains Golf Course. Harold had a love of cars and enjoyed owning a car lot in his retirement. Harold was an avid fisherman and one of the charter members of the Cookeville Bass Club. He was also a good golfer in his day and loved living on the golf course. He was an excellent sketch artist and spent a great deal of his final days enjoying this talent. Harold Jackson loved his family and was a wonderful father to his two children and husband to his wife and high school sweetheart, Janice Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Rebecca Janice Jackson; son, Jeffrey Harold Jackson; brothers, Winnel Jackson and Ralph Jackson; , twin brother, Harlon Jackson, Timothy Jackson, and by his sister, Mary Whiteaker. He is survived by daughter, Jenny Jackson Spurlock of Cookeville; grandsons, J Samuel Spurlock of Nashville and wife Parisa, and Jacob Jeffrey Jackson; nieces and nephews, Barbara (Johnny) Brown, Linda (Windell) Bush, Nancy Ellen (Bob) Jared, Faye Parrish, Kaye Hensley, Mona Taylor, Monica Robinson, and Mike Jackson; daughter in law, Sherrie Jackson Meyers, and by sisters-in-laws, Patsy Standifer and Doris Jackson, Nieces Susan (Slade) Stroud and Stacie (Tim Nichols) Standifer, Pam Cook and Lorrie Skaggs. He is also survived by his daughter by love, Beth Poteet Anderson. Pallbearers will be J Samuel Spurlock, Jacob Jeffrey Jackson, Ken Standifer, Terry Kendall, David Edgington, Jake Standifer, Pat Fitzpatrick and Slade Stroud.
