Harold Lee Burris, long serving Putnam County Register of Deeds, passed away Wednesday June 29, 2022 at his home. He was born February 9, 1962 in Cookeville to Opal Horner Burris of Cookeville and the late Hershel Burris. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Ethan Burris and wife, Alyssa; sister, Renee Burris; grandson, Christopher Lachlan Burris all of Cookeville; and a host of friends. Harold was a member of Whitson Chapel Church of Christ. He started working in the Register of Deeds office in 1999 and was honored to be elected Register in 2006. His love for community was shown by his many contributions of service and gifts in the Upper Cumberland area. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday July 1 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Buddy Reeder and Bro. David Flatt will officiate. Interment will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery. His family will receive friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
