Funeral services for Mr. Hubert Carrel Warren, age 92 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday January 11 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Mike Head and Rev. Charles Hutchison will officiate. Mr. Warren's family will receive friends Sunday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Warren died Thursday morning January 8, 2015 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 10, 1922 in Cookeville to the late Oscar and Vergie Farmer Warren. He attended Jere Whitson Elementary School and graduated from Cookeville Central High School in 1941. He attended Tennessee Tech University. He was a retired Postal Clerk with the U. S. Postal Service in Cookeville with 30 years of service and a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church for over 70 years. Mr. Warren was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre. He was part of the combat action on D-Day-the Allied Invasion of Normandy. He also saw combat in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Warren and Raymond Warren. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gene Evelyn Matheney Warren (who he married October 22, 1950 in Cookeville); nieces, Lee Bowman of Memphis, Ginger Moss of Owensboro, KY; nephews, Ray Warren of Miami, FL, John (Rhonda) Warren of Hermitage, TN, Phil (Sharon) Warren of Owensboro KY, Jeff Warren of Bowling Green, KY, great nieces/nephews, Blake and Blair of Owensboro, KY, Brad and Aubree of Hermitage, Bailey of Atlanta, and Tyler of Memphis, Richard Matheney and Tina Matheney both of Dayton, OH, Lewis Matheney of New York City and Bill Matheney of Dayton, OH; and a special brother-in-law, Jarvis Matheney of Cookeville. Pallbearers will be John, Phil, Jeff, Blake, Brad, and Tyler Warren. Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund at Cookeville First Baptist Church 18 South Walnut Avenue Cookeville, TN 38501
