Grant Sasser

COOKEVILLE-A memorial visitation for Mr. Grant Wilken Sasser, age 68, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held Saturday, May 18th, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Private family interment will be held in Crest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Patterson officiating.

Grant passed from this life Friday, May 10, 2024, following an extended illness.

He was born May 26,1955, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Buford "Rudy" and Georgia “Bloss” Wilken Sasser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Grant "Will" Wilken Sasser, Jr.

Left to honor his memory is his cherished family including his wife of 43 years, Sandra Klein Sasser; daughter and son in law, Molly and Dustin Morgan; grandchildren, Zaydan, Grayton and Wilder; brothers, George Sasser, Gary (Colleen) Sasser and Greg Sasser; and by a host of nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Overton High School in Nashville, Tennessee, Grant began work at Averitt Express, in 1971, and continued there for 50 plus years of service. He retired in December of 2023.

Grant enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his 3 grandsons, and the many trips with them to 30A. He enjoyed working in his yard. He also had a great love for his time spent at Center Hill Lake with friends: Captain David Henry, Jack Barton, James “JT” Threadgill, Mike Sirls, Mitch Sirls, Keith Judd, Nate Maxwell and Steven Flatt. They will serve as honorary pall bearers. Sadly, his friend Ronnie Volpe passed away unexpectedly.

His family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Caris Hospice staff, nurses and Dr. James Tompkins for the excellent and kind care given to him.
