Gordon Bruce "Bear" Crawley

Memorial services for Mr. Gordon Bruce (Bear) Crawley, age 70 of Cookeville, TN will be Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 5:00 pm at his residence. Bear passed peacefully Saturday morning, February 7, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 29, 1944 in Overton County to the late Edward McKinley Crawley and Sadie Thelma Stewart Crawley. Mr. Crawley was a caring, free spirited, family oriented man who treasured spending time with his family and loved ones. He was proud of his heritage and held strong to his culture and spiritual ties. Bear enjoyed presenting & sharing the values and customs of the Lakota Indians with the children at school events and also storytelling to the local Boy Scouts of America. Bear’s passion included arts & crafts, making Native American jewelry & head dresses. He also loved wood carving and playing volleyball. Survivors include his four sons, Scott (wife Lisa) Crawley, of Dodson Branch; Kevin Crawley, Nealy Crawley, and Steven Crawley all of Cookeville; two daughters, Daphne (husband Henry) England of Cookeville and Shaqwana Crawley of Cookeville; eleven grandchildren, Selina Burton, Sabrina Johnson, Courtney Burton, Edward Crawley, Randy Crawley, Austin Crawley, Destiny Crawley, Isabella Crawley, McKinley Crawley, Logan Shock, and (CJ) Cayce Jack Crawley; five great grandchildren; one sister, Janice Bohannon also of Cookeville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Crawley and an infant brother, Johnny Crawley.
