Glenda Gribble

d. August 3, 2018

Glenda Gribble, age 58, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina. She will be remembered for the love and care she bestowed on those around her. She was a devoted wife, affectionate mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend. Glenda had a deep love for the Lord with a strong faith that manifested itself in service to her church family, Collegeside Church of Christ, as well as to the communities where she resided, Celina, Gainesboro, and Cookeville. Born on Monday October 5, 1959 in Jackson County, Tennessee, Glenda was raised on Swann Ridge above Dale Hollow Lake in Clay County, Tennessee. She graduated from Celina High School in 1977. Later that year she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Gribble. They celebrated 40 years of marriage on December 17, 2017. Glenda and Robert made their home in Gainesboro, Tennessee while raising their two children, Emily and Curtis. Glenda delighted in her role as a wife, mother, caregiver, and all around coordinator of the household. She was an ardent supporter of her children's athletic endeavors, and despite hectic schedules, always ensured that the family gathered together for dinner each evening. Glenda gave integral support to Robert in his professional life, assisting him in establishing a successful business as well as encouraging him in his role as a church leader. She worked as a legal assistant, funeral director, and as a receptionist at the medical office of Dr. James G. Staggs. Glenda was preceded in death by her father, Glyn B. Poindexter. Survivors include her husband, Robert Gribble of Cookeville, TN; children, Emily (Jonathan) Wood of Asheville, North Carolina, and Curtis (Logan) Gribble of Nashville, TN; mother, Mamie Anderson Poindexter of Cookeville, TN; brother, Terry Poindexter of Cookeville, TN, grandson, Blane Wilson Gribble of Nashville, TN; as well as many nieces and nephews, both actual and "adopted", who knew her as Aunt Glenda or GiGi.
