Mr. Glen Bremer, age 90, of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday morning March 31, 2015, at NHC in Cookeville, TN. Born Glen Harvey Bremer in Cinebar, Washington, on June 23, 1924, he was one of four children of the late Harvey and Lena Nowlen Bremer. Mr. Bremer served in WWII as a member of the 20th Armored Division. He married Beatrice Griffin of Bumpus Mills, TN, September 19, 1947, being married for 64 years until her passing (February 2, 2011). Taking advantage of the GI bill, Glen attended Austin Peay State University, earning both a bachelors and master's degree in chemistry. He taught chemistry at Hopkinsville High School in Kentucky and later at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he rose to the rank of full professor, retiring from there in 1986. Upon retirement, Bumpus Mills, TN was home until he and Bea joined their family residing in Cookeville. He leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Joyce Bremer and Stephen Glover; two grandchildren, Russell and Caroline Glover, all of Cookeville. Preceding Glen in death: his wife, parents, two sisters, Katherine Gohl and Yvonna Scroggins, and brother, Edward Bremer. Mr. Bremer's family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Visitation on Friday, April 3, will be held at Anglin Funeral Home in Dover, TN, beginning at 12 noon until time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Elder Kurt Settles of Primitive Baptist Church in Cookeville will officiate. Interment, with military honors will follow at Carr Cemetery in Fort Campbell, KY. Active Pallbearers will be the Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Bremer Family Scholarship fund at the University of Tennessee at Martin (329 Administration Bldg., Martin, TN 38238) or to the Foundation at Cookeville Regional Medical Center (1 Medical Center Blvd., Cookeville, TN 38501).
