Gladys Phy

Mrs. Gladys Marie Phy, age 67 of Cookeville, died Sunday June 7, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11th at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Moore will officiate. Interment will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Wednesday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. again Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. She was born February 1, 1953 in Cookeville to the late Wilse and Dorothy Hall Horn. She was associate at TRW for over 10 years. Gladys enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers and spending time at the lake. She fought many illnesses in recent years but remained a 'spitfire' and fought to the very end. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Jewell Horn, Barbara Horn and Tina Hudson; brothers, Sam Horn, Sanford Horn and Alvie Horn; and by stepfather, Andrew Loftis. She is survived by her adoring family who have tirelessly cared for her, her husband of 53 years, JD Phy; son, Tim Phy; daughter, Laurie Hackett, all of Cookeville; granddaughters, Courtney Phy, Macie (Christian) Orrand and Emma Hackett; great granddaughters, Alaina Rose Orrand and Winsley Kate Brawner; and by three sisters, Neta Crosswhite, Margaret Bouton, both of Cookeville, and Eunetta (Richard) Lewis of Sparta. Billy Flatt, Gene Bilbrey, Danny Loftis, Christian Orrand, Stace Hackett and Patrick Suire will serve as pallbearers.
