Gladys Burgess

Funeral services for Gladys Thompson Burgess, age 88 of Cookeville, will be at 12 noon Saturday September 25 at Life Church in Cookeville. Pastor Eddie Turner and Pastor Donnie Davidson will officiate. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Gladys passed away suddenly Wednesday September 22, 2021 at her home. She was born September 29, 1932 in Putnam County, TN to the late Robert "Bob" Thompson and Clara Green Thompson. Gladys was retired bookkeeper at Tutco. She was a member of Life Church and active in the jail ministry. Gladys was a loving encourager and a dedicated prayer warrior. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Jeanie) Burgess, Rick (Chris) Burgess; daughter, Connie (Harold) Simcox; sisters, Geneva Davis, Sue (Bud) Cobble all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Matt (Alice) Simcox, Chad (Yizze) Simcox, Chastity (Zach) Harrell, James (Chasity) Burgess, Jordan (Jessica) Burgess, Jacob Burgess, Kristie (Jason) Jernigan, Jennifer (Rickey) Green, Zach Burgess, Josh (Parrish) Burgess, and Jennifer (Seth) Hudson; twenty three great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Pattie Burgess, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jamie and Greg Burgess.
