Gilbert P. Foster

Funeral service for Mr. Gilbert Preston Foster, age 80 of Cookeville will be Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with burial in the Johnson Town Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service Sunday. Mr. Foster passed Thursday, November 7, 2013 at NHC in Smithville TN. He was born February 3, 1933 in Putnam County to the late Seth Edgar Foster and Amanda Randolph Foster. Gilbert loved bluegrass music, and he and his wife Irene and Herman Johnson sang in many churches in Indiana for several years. They were also faithful members of Community Baptist Church in Redkey IN. Mr. Foster retired from Indiana Glass Company in Dunkirk IN. in 1994. Gilbert and Irene spent most of their adult life in IN. and only moved back to TN in their twilight years. Gilbert is survived by three children, Eric (Frances) Foster of Cookeville, Debra (Marty) Miller of Redkey, IN., Tammy (Jason) Bye of Portland IN and one daughter-in-law, Beverly McKenney. He also is survived by eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents Mr. Foster is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bumbalough Foster; a son, Gilbert Preston McKenney; sisters, Ruby Burgess, Ruth Adcox, Reba Bumbalough, Mary V. Bumbalough, and brothers Edgar Foster, Charlie Foster, Henry Forster, and Allen Foster. Bro. Ken Haney will be conducting the services.
