Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine Alloway, age 94 of Cookeville, will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 4 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Chris Donnelly and Andrew Berg officiating. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 8 pm and again Thursday from 11 am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Alloway died Sunday evening at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. She was born May 5, 1920 in Lineville, AL to the late William Wyatt and Margaret Rosa Hallmark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Alloway; two brothers, Aubrey Clayton Hallmark and William Shaffer Hallmark; and sister, Margaret Elizabeth Johnson. Mrs. Alloway was a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church. She received her Bachelor's degree in 1945 from Berry College in Rome, GA. She was a retired educator, having taught many years as the art teacher at Upperman High School in Baxter. She was a member of the Cumberland Art Society and charter member of the Cookeville Camera Club. She is survived by a son, Richard Alloway of Cookeville, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Randy Nolan of Cookeville; and sister, Theresa Smith of Macon, GA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
