Funeral services for Mr. George Harold Bright, SR, age 80 of Monterey, will be held Saturday November 5 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Bowman and Rev. Steve Looper officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow in Whittaker Cemetery. George's family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Mr. Bright died Saturday morning October 29, 2016 at his home. He was born April 4,1936 in Monterey, Tennessee to the late Anderson Dorsey and Hallie Mae Walker Bright SR. George was a retired Press Operator with Dayton Press in Dayton, OH with 28 years of Service. After returning to Monterey he has spent the last 30 years farming on the family farm. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict; a former long-time member of the Veteran's Honor Guard; and a life-long member of the American Legion and VFW Post 6277. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters, Gaynelle Turner, Rebecca Bright, Daurine Edwards, Sarah Muncy, Mary Ruth Blair, and Priscilla Stamps; and five brothers, Paul Bright, Bill Bright, Jim Bright, AD Bright, JR, and Ed Bright. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Wilmoth Bright (whom he married February 15, 1967 in Tipp City, OH); son, Harold Bright of Monterey; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Brenda Bright of Beaver Creek, OH; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
