COOKEVILLE CHAPEL-Geneva Garrett Ogletree passed away on November 27, 2024 at the Lifecare Center of Sparta. Born on November 2, 1929, in Celina, TN, Geneva lived a life marked by her devotion to family, selfless care for others, and the warmth she brought into the lives of her family and friends.
Geneva worked at the former Livingston Shirt Factory, but her true calling was one of nurturing and caring for others.. Known for her straightforward manner and kind heart, she was a devoted caretaker to several family members, always putting their needs before her own. From an early age, Geneva had a calling to look out for others, a testament to her beautiful spirit that shone through in all she did.
Geneva found joy in many hobbies, loving to cultivate her garden and nurture flowers, creating a serene beauty reflective of her gentle nature. She shared countless cherished moments traveling with her late husband, William "Bill" Denver Ogletree, who preceded her in death. Geneva was also a remarkable cook, finding happiness in preparing meals for her family, a gesture that signified her love for them.
She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ricky Gates, who continue to carry her legacy forward, and her grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Ogletree and Drew (Ansley) Gates, along with her treasured great-grandchildren, Grayson and Molly Ogletree. Her family also includes a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Garrett, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Geneva's life story is graced by the memories of her parents, Oscar B. Garrett and Verdia Johnson Garrett; her son, Gary Ogletree; her brother, Leon Garrett; and her sister, Irene Garrett Allen.
Her family will receive friends Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Cookeville Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 p.m.. Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate and interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
