G.C. Wright

Funeral services for Mr. George C. (G.C.) Wright, age 96 of Algood, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 13 in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Jim McAfee officiated. Interment with military honors followed in Paran Cemetery in Overton County. His family received friends Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Mr. Wright passed away Wednesday June 9, 2021 in Algood at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. He was born July 24, 1924 in Jamestown, TN to the late Grover Cleveland Wright and Ada Alice Wright. G.C. was a US Army veteran having served in the Asia-Pacific theater during WWII. He was retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Dorcus Wright (m. December 12, 1955, d. January 14, 2018); sister, Florence Wright Linder; brothers, Scott, Travis, Earl, Tollie, Quincy, and Parnell Wright. He is survived by two nephews, Jason Wright and wife Karen of Hilham, Jerry Linder and wife Ann of Alpine; and sister-in-law, Nell West of Tulsa, OK. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
